中國(guó)人常說(shuō)“一諾千金”,意思是“A promise is weightier than one thousand bars of gold”。做出承諾就應(yīng)該去兌現(xiàn),不應(yīng)該“出爾反爾”。
“出爾反爾”,漢語(yǔ)成語(yǔ),多指自己說(shuō)了或做了,后來(lái)又反悔。比喻言行自相矛盾,反復(fù)無(wú)常,說(shuō)話不算數(shù)(promise and then deny in succession;be inconsistent in one's words)??梢苑g為“go back on one's word”或“ renege on one's word”,表示“to break a promise that one has made;to not do something one said one would do”。
