One runner didn't let the French government's order to remain indoors prevent him from training for a marathon amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, Elisha Nochomovitz, a 32-year-old furloughed restaurant worker, ran the length of a marathon — on his 23-foot long balcony.

And he did it in six hours and 48 minutes, a personal record nearly double that of his previous finish time.

Although Nochomovitz has run 36 marathons, he said his balcony marathon was the most challenging.

Due to the short length of the balcony, Nochomovitz was unable to gain any momentum or speed as he had to constantly turn back and forth.

He said he ran about 3,000 laps.

>China lifts lockdown in Hubei

Hubei province announced on Tuesday it will reopen Wuhan's transportation connections to areas outside the city on April 8 and lift traffic controls in other parts of the province starting on Wednesday.
湖北省24日宣布，25日起該省除省會(huì)武漢市以外的地區(qū)解除對(duì)外交通管控，4月8日起武漢市重新開放對(duì)外交通。

People in Hubei will be allowed to leave the province if they hold a green health code, meaning no contact with any infected or suspected COVID-19 cases, according to a circular issued by the provincial COVID-19 control headquarters.
根據(jù)湖北省新冠肺炎疫情防控指揮部發(fā)布的通告，在鄂人員憑健康碼"綠碼"即可離鄂。"綠碼"意味著持碼者未曾接觸過新冠肺炎確診或疑似病例。

Migrant workers who hold green codes and negative nucleic acid test results will be sent out of the province to their workplace directly.
對(duì)持"綠碼"的外出務(wù)工人員，經(jīng)核酸檢測合格后，將直接被輸送至其務(wù)工所在地。

The announcement said Wuhan will gradually resume production based on risk evaluation.

The reopening of schools, colleges, kindergartens and vocational institutions remains postponed and will be set at a later date.

The World Health Organization on Tuesday said that the US had the potential to become the global epicenter of the pandemic, citing a "very large acceleration" in coronavirus infections.
世界衛(wèi)生組織24日表示，美國新冠肺炎確診人數(shù)出現(xiàn)大幅增長，有可能成為全球新冠疫情的震中。

Nationwide, COVID-19 has infected more than 50,000 people and killed nearly 700, with more than a quarter of the deaths in New York state.
目前美國新冠肺炎確診病例超過5萬例，死亡病例近700例，其中超過1/4的死亡病例發(fā)生在紐約州。

The rate of infection is now doubling every three days in New York and the worst of the outbreak, known as the apex, could arrive in 14 to 21 days, putting huge pressure on health services, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Tuesday.

The International Olympic Committee and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have concluded the Tokyo 2020 Olympics must be postponed, and held no later than the summer of 2021, the IOC and Tokyo 2020 organizers said on Tuesday.
國際奧委會(huì)和東京奧組委24日表示，國際奧委會(huì)和日本首相安倍晉三已決定，東京2020年夏季奧運(yùn)會(huì)延期舉行，時(shí)間不遲于2021年夏季。

While a definite new date has not been set, the IOC said that the games "must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community."
盡管新的舉行日期尚未確定，但國際奧委會(huì)表示，"奧運(yùn)會(huì)舉辦日期必須延期至2020年之后，但不得遲于2021年夏季，以保障運(yùn)動(dòng)員、參與奧運(yùn)會(huì)的每個(gè)人以及國際社會(huì)的健康。"

It is the first time in the Olympics' 124-year history the games have been postponed during peacetime.
