A study of 2,000 women, commissioned by UK uniform supplier Simon Jersey, finds the average woman spends more than an hour per week—for a total of three days each year, or five months over a woman's working life from age 18 to 65—choosing what to wear.
It breaks down to about 12 minutes every workday morning, 10 minutes every weekend morning, and about 27.5 minutes before a night out.
Half of women also worry about their outfit the night before or before getting out of bed in the morning.
Even with all that planning, two-thirds of women admit to trying on multiple outfits before leaving the house; about 15% have regretted their choice and returned to pick something else.
The study of 2,000 Brits found the average wardrobe contains 152 items, but just 44 percent of these are worn regularly.
There are 3.6 billion clothes left unworn in the nation's wardrobes – a whopping 57 items per person – with an average of 16 items only worn once and 11 still with the tags on.
37% of women who say choosing an outfit is stressful cite concerns about whether their choice is suitable for work.
Women just have a wider range of beauty practices available to them—they can go to work in suits or maxi dresses, stilettos or brogues. They can wear their hair long or short, and wear makeup, or not.
Men, in contrast, have a much more limited set of socially acceptable options for presenting themselves as professionals—relatively short hair, shirts and ties, perhaps a Marco Rubio boot if they're feeling adventurous.
From this perspective, women's beauty practices might be seen primarily as a form of creative self-expression—a view that many women do endorse.
Women's clothes come in and out of fashion far more frequently than men's. And women are judged more harshly on this measure.
時(shí)尚雜志Cosmopolitan認(rèn)為最重要的就是“量體穿衣”(dress according to your body shape)。
Not everything can look amazing on everyone. But on the other hand, certain fits can accentuate your body and get you insta-ready real quick. All you gotta do is remember to dress for your body shape, and you've officially conquered the style game.
hourglass bodies
It's all about the waist.
宜
Literally "dress" it up for every occasion. Dresses are the best option because they cinch your waist in most cases (depending on the dress) and give you a defined shape.
Don't wear flowy blouses. They don't do any justice to your figure and hide your waist instead accentuating it. A no-go for sure.
pear-shaped bodies
對(duì)于那些臀部/腿部較粗大,軀干/手臂較瘦的人(with bigger hips/legs and small torsos/arms),著裝指導(dǎo)很簡單。
宜
Wear high-waisted and slightly loose jeans. They will highlight your wider hips and make your body shape stand out without clinging to your legs.
Wear form-fitting blouses to make your smaller arms stand out.
Don't wear long skirts. Not only will they hide your best features — your legs and hips, but they will also make your legs look much bigger than they are.
apple-shaped bodies
你只需要記住把人們的注意力吸引到你的手臂和腿上,而不是腹部和胸部(draw attention towards your arms and legs instead of your stomach and bust)。
宜
Pick high-waisted bottoms. Whether it be shorts, a skirt, or jeans, it's best to opt for the high-waisted option to focus attention away from the torso region and highlight the legs.
Choose a structured jacket. It's best to wear a simple cut blazer or sweater that will minimize your waist and create curves in your torso.
Don't wear extremely tight tops. This will make your torso, the region where most of your body weight is, look more prominent.
