Kentucky Fried Chicken has launched a new themed branch in honor of Lei Feng, a legendary soldier celebrated in China for his selflessness and modesty, in his hometown Changsha, Hunan province. The restaurant opened on Sunday, two days before the official remembrance day marked across the country every year on March 5 when people celebrate his spirits by showing goodwill and giving helping hand to others. At the entrance to the restaurant stands two big Lei-like statues and the interior is decorated with Lei's cartoon portraits and quotes from his diary. He Min, general manager of KFC in Hunan province, said that in addition to the themed restaurant, they will also launch a project dedicated to Lei's virtues in 250 outlets across the province, including providing free drinking water and resting places for janitors.

An HIV-positive man in Britain has become the second known adult worldwide to be cleared of the virus that causes AIDS after he received a bone marrow transplant from an HIV-resistant donor. The therapy had an early success with a man known as "the Berlin patient," Timothy Ray Brown, a US man treated in Germany who is 12 years post-transplant and still free of HIV. Until now, Brown was the only person thought to have been cured of infection with HIV. In the latest case, the man known as "the London patient" has no trace of HIV infection, three years after he received bone marrow stem cells from a donor with a rare genetic mutation that resists HIV infection - and 18 months after he came off antiretroviral drugs. AIDS experts said the case is a proof of the concept that scientists will one day be able to end AIDS, but it does not mean that cure has already been found.

Apple, the US smartphone giant, is cutting the prices of some of its iPhone products in China in an attempt to boost sales. On Tuesday, Suning.com, a Chinese online retailer announced on its Sino Weibo account that it will cut up to 1,000 yuan off the prices of the popular iPhone XS. For the iPhone XS 64G, customers will only have to pay 7,388 yuan on Suning.com, 1,311 yuan less than on Apple's own online store. Another e-commerce platform, JD.com, also announced a price cut on the iPhone XS series. Tmall, the online retailer owned by Alibaba, also announced Tuesday evening price reductions on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max of up to 2,000 yuan. An independent tech analyst said the price cuts were taken to boost flagging sales in China market. According to a report by theverge.com, Apple sales revenue fell $5 billion during the holiday quarter in 2018 to $13.2 billion in China, compared to the same period in 2017.
