>Time Person of the Year
Time magazine announced the "Person of the Year", which attracts much attention across the world, on Tuesday. A group of journalists, named as "The Guardians", who were either killed, arrested, or charged, acquired the title. They are Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, five members of the Capital Gazette staff, journalist Maria Ressa, and Reuters journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo. A series of four black-and-white covers highlights what the magazine calls "the War on Truth." Time selected the group "for taking great risks in pursuit of greater truths, for the imperfect but essential quest for facts that are central to civil discourse, for speaking up and speaking out."

>Probe enters lunar orbit
China's Chang'e 4 robotic probe has approached the moon and entered lunar orbit, marking a major step in its mission to make a soft landing on the moon's far side. The China National Space Administration said in a statement on Wednesday that Chang'e 4 entered an elliptical lunar orbit about 100 km above the surface at 4:45 pm on Wednesday after nearly 110 hours of flight. It lifted off early on Saturday. The trajectory of the spacecraft was adjusted on Sunday to make sure it remains on the right track toward the silver sphere. It will remain in orbit for few days to adjust further to a suitable altitude and angle for its landing and also to perform in-orbit tests of the navigation sensors. It will also test its data links with the relay satellite, Queqiao, the statement said.
>HK top travel destination
UK-based market research company Euromonitor International has released its Top 100 City Destinations 2018 report, an annual ranking of the world's most popular cities by overseas tourist arrivals. Once again, Hong Kong has come out on top. Close to 30 million tourists are expected to travel to the region before the year is out - and more than 50% of them will be from the Chinese mainland. Asia continues to be the biggest player in the rankings, with 41 of the top 100 cities being on the continent. Bangkok holds onto its place as No 2 in the rankings, with close to 24 million visitors expected this year, while Singapore, Macao, Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen are all the top 10. Another non-mover, London hangs in there in third place, with just under 21 million international tourists expected. Dubai is in seventh place, with 16.7 million visitors, although Euromonitor International reports that the Middle East and Africa regions are the lowest performers overall, with cities such as Jerba and Sousse in Tunisia and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt dropping out of the ranking in recent years due to the impact of terrorist attacks.
>May survives confidence vote
British Prime Minister Theresa May has won a vote of confidence in her leadership of the Conservative Party by 200 to 117 on Wednesday. After securing 63% of the total vote, she is now immune from a leadership challenge for a year. Speaking in Downing Street, she vowed to deliver the Brexit "people voted for" but said she had listened to the concerns of Members of Parliament (MPs) who voted against her. The secret ballot was triggered by 48 of her MPs angry at her Brexit policy, which they say betrays the 2016 referendum result. The prime minister won the confidence vote with a majority of 83, with 63% of Conservative MPs backing her and 37% voting against her. The BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg said the level of opposition was "not at all comfortable" for the prime minister and a "real blow" to her authority.
