"教"出一個(gè)阿里巴巴后,馬云要回去做老師了

9月10日,阿里巴巴成立19周年之際,該公司董事局主席馬云發(fā)表公開信稱,明年今日——即2019年9月10日,他將不再擔(dān)任集團(tuán)董事局主席。

Alibaba co-founder and chairman Jack Ma on Monday announced in an open letter that he would step down a year later, when the company CEO Daniel Zhang will take over as the chairman of the board.
阿里巴巴聯(lián)合創(chuàng)始人兼董事局主席馬云10日在一封公開信中宣布,他將于一年后卸任,屆時(shí)將由公司首席執(zhí)行官張勇繼任。

9月10日教師節(jié)當(dāng)天,馬云發(fā)出題為"教師節(jié)快樂"的公開信,并在信中公布了這一消息。馬云表示,明年9月10日以后,他本人將繼續(xù)擔(dān)任阿里巴巴董事會(huì)成員(stay as board member of Alibaba),直至2020年阿里巴巴年度股東大會(huì)(annual general meeting of stockholders)。

這是馬云深思熟慮、認(rèn)真準(zhǔn)備了10年的計(jì)劃。10年前,阿里巴巴創(chuàng)建合伙人機(jī)制(partnership),來解決規(guī)模公司的創(chuàng)新力問題(provide solutions for company creativity)、領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人傳承(leader succession)問題、未來擔(dān)當(dāng)力問題和文化傳承問題(culture succession issues),以制度和人、文化的完美結(jié)合,讓公司得以健康持續(xù)發(fā)展(enable the company's healthy development by combining together the system, the people, and the culture)。

"We believe that we can only solve the problem of enterprise succession and development by setting up a system and forming a unique culture and cultivate talent as potential successors," Ma said in the open letter. "And we never ceased practicing to achieve this."
馬云在信中說:"我們相信只有建立一套制度,形成一套獨(dú)特的文化,培養(yǎng)和鍛煉出一大批人才的接班人體系,才能解開企業(yè)傳承發(fā)展的難題。為此,我們從未停止過努力和實(shí)踐"。

正是在新型合伙人機(jī)制(new co-partnership system)的基礎(chǔ)上,阿里巴巴形成了以使命價(jià)值觀驅(qū)動(dòng)的獨(dú)特文化和良將如潮的接班人體系。馬云因此認(rèn)為,阿里巴巴已經(jīng)"有足夠的自信和能力"迎接董事局主席的交接(have enough confidence and ability to handle the transfer of power),這也標(biāo)志著阿里巴巴完成了從依靠個(gè)人特質(zhì)的企業(yè)(an individual-dependent enterprise)變成依靠組織機(jī)制、依靠人才文化的企業(yè)制度升級(jí)。

這也是馬云選擇在教師節(jié)(Teachers' Day)這一天發(fā)出公開信的原因,他以一位老師的驕傲寫到:"作為教師出身的我,看到我們今天的團(tuán)隊(duì)、領(lǐng)導(dǎo)群體、以使命價(jià)值觀驅(qū)動(dòng)的獨(dú)特文化(unique mission-driven culture),以及不斷涌現(xiàn)出的一大批以張勇為代表的杰出商業(yè)領(lǐng)袖和專業(yè)人才,我深感自豪!"

Today, as we mark the 19th anniversary of Alibaba, I am excited to share some news with you: with the approval of our board of directors, one year from today on September 10, 2019 which also falls on Alibaba's 20th anniversary, Group CEO Daniel Zhang will succeed me as chairman of the board of Alibaba Group. While remaining as executive chairman in the next 12 months, I will work closely with Daniel to ensure a smooth and successful transition. Thereafter, I will stay on the Alibaba board of directors until our annual shareholders meeting in 2020.

When Alibaba was founded in 1999, our goal was to build a company that could make China and the world proud and one that could last 102 years. However, we all knew that no one could stay with the company for 102 years. A sustainable Alibaba would have to be built on sound governance, culture-centric philosophy, and consistency in developing talent. No company can rely solely on its founders. Of all people, I should know that. Because of physical limits on one's ability and energy, no one can shoulder the responsibilities of chairman and CEO forever.

10年前我們就問自己這個(gè)問題,如何保證馬云離開公司以后,阿里巴巴依然健康發(fā)展?我們相信只有建立一套制度,形成一套獨(dú)特的文化,培養(yǎng)和鍛煉出一大批人才的接班人體系,才能解開企業(yè)傳承發(fā)展的難題。為此,這十年來,我們從未停止過努力和實(shí)踐。
We asked ourselves this question 10 years ago – how could Alibaba achieve sustainable growth after Jack Ma leaves the company? We believed the only way to solve the problem of corporate leadership succession was to develop a system of governance based on a unique culture and mechanisms for developing consistent talent and successors. For the last 10 years, we kept working on these ingredients.
