Affluenza, a portmanteau of affluence and influenza, is a term used by critics of consumerism. It is defined as "a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety, and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more".
It is the negative psychological or behavioral effects of having or pursuing wealth, as irresponsible acts and feelings of self-doubt or guilt.
他將富裕病定義為“給予金錢,財(cái)產(chǎn),社會地位,個人外表及名譽(yù)高度的重視”(placing a high value on money, possessions, appearances (physical and social) and fame)。
例句:
In an era troubled by affluenza, more and more young people are only driven by new and luxurious things.
