The Beijing subway is notoriously crowded, especially during peak hours. A passenger surnamed Shao, who was trying to board the Subway Line 1 during morning rush hour last October, was forced into the train by the crowds and he broke his leg. Being unable to work for months, Shao lost his job and now he is suing the subway operator for medical expenses and nursing fees totaling more than 54,000 yuan.
