So you think you can dance
One of the biggest public activities in China is public square dancing. This activity is extremely popular among the elderly. Of course, no public gathering in China isn’t without its own problems, and it appears that the complaints against the old grannies dancing have been mounting up that the government is interested in intervening. There may…or may not be a crack down on old ladies dancing publically in China.
Go Maple Leafs
An 11-year-old boy Virginia, USA, was suspended from school after school authorities mistook a leaf he carried to be a leaf of marijuana. Turns out the boy was bringing a maple leaf to school. The “over reaction” from the school has led to a controversy in the US over the various “zero tolerance” policies held in schools across the country. We’re surprised that Jaycee Chan didn’t tell the authorities in Beijing his stash was of maple leafs instead of Mary J.
Western Celebs’, Eastern Brands
A new commercial for Chinese furniture brand Red Star Macilline appeared online starring American alternative rock band Ok Go. The commercial, shot in the visually stunning way Ok Go shoots all of their commercials is another look at Eastern brands hiring Western faces to peddle goods domestically. Here at The Week, we take a look at some famous faces in weird commercials.
