撲克牌是美國(guó)人的一種傳統(tǒng)性消遣，因此有許多牌桌上的說法也就逐漸地成了人們?nèi)粘５挠谜Z(yǔ)。這些關(guān)于撲克的口語(yǔ)用法你都知道嗎？

1.Poker face 臉上毫無表情，不動(dòng)聲色

I tried to keep a poker face even though I was scared to death when I went back to my doctor to hear the results of my lab tests.
當(dāng)我到醫(yī)生那里去看試驗(yàn)結(jié)果的時(shí)候，我害怕得要死。可是我盡量裝得若無其事。

2.Wild card 無法預(yù)料的事，未知數(shù)

The wild card in the picture is eastern Europe.
局勢(shì)中的未知因素在東歐。

3.Close to the vest 做事小心謹(jǐn)慎

The board members, resolved to play their cards close to the vest, made no public statements after the meeting.
董事會(huì)成員決定謹(jǐn)慎行事，因此他們?cè)跁?huì)議之后沒有發(fā)表公開聲明。

4.Play with a full deck 有頭腦的，神志清醒的

Have you noticed that old man who sits on a park bench all day talking to himself? I overheard him today and he's just talking nonsense. I'm afraid the poor guy isn't playing with a full deck.

6.Have a good hand 拿到一手好牌，有成功的可能，占上風(fēng)

I must complain the cards are ill shuffled till I have a good hand.
直至我手上有好牌為止，我得抗議紙牌洗得不好。

7.Tip one's hand 露底牌，暴露自己的意圖；（疏忽地）泄露秘密

Don't let the landlord hear that I don't have any other options. I don't want to tip my hand when we negotiate over the price.

不能讓房東聽見我沒有其他選擇。我可不想在談租金的時(shí)候被房東知底。

8.Lay (or put) one's cards on the table 攤牌，開誠(chéng)布公地說明事實(shí)，和盤端出

I don't want to keep any secrets from you. So, I'm going to lay my cards on the table and tell you that I'm no millionaire, and that if you marry me, you'll have to work for a while - at least until my business starts to grow.
