Chief Justice Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), delivered a report on the work of the SPC on Thursday to the third session of the 12th National People's Congress.

China convicts about 1. 18 million criminal offenders in 2014, 2.2 percent more than that of last year.

Terrorism, separatism up 15%
恐怖主義、分裂主義案件上升15%

Chinese courts handled 558 cases related to separatism and terrorism, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year.
我國(guó)法院共處理分裂主義、恐怖主義相關(guān)案件558起，同比上升14.8%。

A total of 712 criminals involved in these cases, including the case in which a jeep crashed into people in Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Oct 28, 2013, and the terrorist attack in a railway station in Kunming, were convicted and punished, a rise of 13.3% year-on-year.
此類案件共處理犯罪分子712人，同比上升13.3%，其中包括2013年10月28日駕駛吉普車在天安門(mén)廣場(chǎng)撞人事件以及昆明火車站恐怖襲擊事件的犯罪分子。

Court acquits, rectifies mistakes
糾正冤假錯(cuò)案

In 2014, courts acquitted 518 defendants of public prosecution and 260 defendants of private prosecution. Moreover, there were 1,317 revisions of criminal cases to rectify past mistakes, including the case of Hugjiltu.
2014年，各級(jí)法院對(duì)518名公訴案件被告人和260名自訴案件被告人依法宣告無(wú)罪。各級(jí)法院按照審判監(jiān)督程序再審改判刑事案件1317件，其中糾正一批重大冤假錯(cuò)案，其中包括內(nèi)蒙古自治區(qū)高級(jí)人民法院依法再審呼格吉勒?qǐng)D故意殺人、流氓罪一案。

Anti-corruption

According to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), prosecutors probed 3,664 cases of graft, bribery and embezzlement of public funds involving more than 1 million yuan ($164,000 ) last year. A total of 4,040 public servants at county level and above, including 589 at city level, were investigated.
最高人民檢察院數(shù)據(jù)顯示，去年，各級(jí)檢察機(jī)關(guān)調(diào)查3664起腐敗、受賄及挪用公款案件，涉及資金超過(guò)100萬(wàn)元，共計(jì)4040名縣級(jí)以上公務(wù)員接受調(diào)查，其中包括589名市級(jí)公務(wù)員。

A total of 55,101 people were investigated for duty-related crimes in 41,487 cases, an annual increase of 7.4 percent in the number of people, according to the report.
共有55101人因職務(wù)犯罪接受調(diào)查，涉及案件41487起，涉案人數(shù)同比增加7.4%。

Prosecutors handled serious cases of 28 officials at and above provincial or ministerial levels, including Zhou Yongkang and Xu Caihou in accordance with the law last year, according to the report.
各級(jí)檢察機(jī)關(guān)依法處理嚴(yán)重違紀(jì)省部級(jí)官員28人，其中包括周永康、徐才厚。

In addition, 7,827 bribers were prosecuted for criminal offenses, up 37.9 percent from the previous year.

The work report of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) showed that Chinese courts in 2014 convicted and punished 44,000 criminals in 31,000 cases of embezzlement and bribery, including severe cases such as Liu Tienan and Li Daqiu.
最高人民法院工作報(bào)告顯示，2014年，各級(jí)法院共審理3.1萬(wàn)起貪污及賄賂案件，涉案4.4萬(wàn)人，其中包括劉鐵男及李達(dá)球。

A total of 2,394 people were convicted for offering bribes last year, up 12.1 percent from the previous year.

China's judicial authorities on Thursday pledged to intensify its international manhunt for corrupt officials who had fled abroad in the vain hope of escaping justice.

The number of criminal cases involving polluters increased by 8.5 times year on year in 2014. Courts nationwide closed about 16,000 criminal cases related to environment protection.
2014年環(huán)境污染相關(guān)刑事案件比上年增加8.5倍，各級(jí)法院審結(jié)污染環(huán)境、破壞資源等犯罪案件1.6萬(wàn)件。

Protecting women and children
保護(hù)婦女和兒童

Chinese courts probed 1,048 cases of abduction of women and children and the sexual assault of minors in 2014, pledging to strengthen their efforts.
各級(jí)法院審結(jié)拐賣婦女兒童、性侵未成年人犯罪案件1048件，加大對(duì)拐賣婦女兒童犯罪的懲處力度。

What to do in 2015
2015年工作安排

-- The SPC will put up a serious fight against crimes harming national security and social stability, including terrorism and illegal cults.

依法嚴(yán)懲恐怖主義和邪教組織等危害國(guó)家安全和社會(huì)穩(wěn)定的犯罪行為。

-- The SPC will step up the efforts against corruption and maintain a zero-tolerance policy on embezzlement, bribery and breach of duty.
依法嚴(yán)懲腐敗犯罪，對(duì)貪污、賄賂及瀆職行為零容忍。

-- The SPC will properly handle disputes occurring in business spheres, including international trades, intellectual properties, Internet finance, maritime economy and rural land reform, to promote the “new normal" for China's economic development.
妥善化解對(duì)外貿(mào)易、知識(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)、互聯(lián)網(wǎng)金融、海洋經(jīng)濟(jì)、農(nóng)村土地制度改革等領(lǐng)域的矛盾糾紛，適應(yīng)經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展新常態(tài)。

-- The SPC will improve its information sharing platform, to make public its trial procedures, written judgments and enforcement information.
完善信息共享平臺(tái)，實(shí)行審判流程、裁判文書(shū)、執(zhí)行信息公開(kāi)化。
