Robo-journalists are algorithms in software that produce news reports based on provided data. The reports produced by robo-journalists can hit the Internet in several minutes after the news happens.
For data-rich stories such as finance stories, sports stories and breaking news where dry facts need to be collated and sent out quickly, robo-journalists are becoming increasingly common. Many large media organizations - including the L.A. Times and Associated Press - have now turned to robots to take the grind out of formulaic dispatches.
