如今逛商場,你會發(fā)現(xiàn)很有品牌都有Denim系列專區(qū),或者在牛仔褲上都印有Denim。這個Denim到底是什么意思呢?
Denim is a strong usually blue cotton cloth that is used especially to make jeans.
“丹寧布”是用來做牛仔褲的藍(lán)色棉布。
也就是說,denim就是牛仔布的意思,而jeans一般來說是牛仔褲的意思。Denim系列即牛仔系列,包括牛仔褲、牛仔裙、牛仔襯衫等一切使用牛仔布制成的衣物;而jeans則僅指休閑穿著的牛仔褲裝,但jeans即可以由denim(丹寧布)制成,也摻有l(wèi)ycra(萊卡)等布料。
Denim, the all-American fabric, actually gets its name from the French words de N?mes meaning "of N?mes," because it was manufactured in the French city of N?mes.
丹寧布這種典型的美國布料其實得名于法語“de N?mes”,意為“N?mes的”,因為它是在法國城市N?mes生產(chǎn)的。
The word "jeans" comes from the French phrase "bleu de Genes" meaning "the blue of Genoa" because they were made for the Genoese Navy. It required robust trousers for its sailors that could be worn wet or dry, and whose legs could easily be rolled up to wear while swabbing the deck.
Jeans一詞則來源于法語“bleu de Genes”,意為“熱內(nèi)亞之藍(lán)”,因為牛仔褲最初是設(shè)計給熱內(nèi)亞海軍穿的。他們要求設(shè)計出一種無論潮濕還是干燥的狀態(tài)下都很耐磨的褲子,而且擦洗甲板時褲腳要很容易卷上去。
