Go the extra mile!” [ 2007-06-25 16:21 ]
剛參加工作時(shí),曾向年長(zhǎng)的朋友取經(jīng),她只告訴我“Go the extra mile!”
片語(yǔ)“to go the extra mile”源出《圣經(jīng)·馬太福音》第五章“山頂布道”,耶穌勸告門(mén)徒:“Whosoever shall compel
thee to go a mile, go with him
如今,“to go the extra mile”的宗教意義已漸行漸遠(yuǎn),現(xiàn)常用來(lái)形容“除了份內(nèi)活兒,還干額外的事?!?
It wasn't the fact that the man was an extraordinary stenographer that got
her attention. It was his personal initiative in going the extra mile.
To do your duty is not enough. You must go the extra
