常說大千世界無奇不有，瞧這篇題為“Fishy discovery leads to Australia drug
bust”的新聞，不僅標(biāo)題用詞醒目，內(nèi)容也甚是新奇——澳大利亞一名毒販竟然將39個裝有海洛因的安全套塞進腌制成的咸魚腹內(nèi)——可惜，偽裝再巧也在劫難逃，在通過海關(guān)時“咸魚”被邊境人員一雙亮眼全部繳獲。

inspected a man's luggage and found jars of pickled fish. Closer inspection
found 39 condoms of heroin inside the fish.
"Closer inspection revealed a number of condoms sewn inside the fish pieces,"
said the statement on Thursday.
對英語學(xué)習(xí)者而言，這篇新聞最大的價值在于它的標(biāo)題，頗值推敲。先來看bust一詞，我們最常見的bust用法是形容“半身雕像”或“女性的胸部”，如“量一下她的胸圍”就可以表達為：to
measure her bust size。在這則新聞中，drug bust指“毒品搜查”，其暗含意“毒品被繳獲，毒犯被逮捕”。
Drug在這里是俚語，常用作動詞——“逮捕、搜查”，請看下面兩個例句：
The man was busted for
pot.他因吸食大麻而被捕。
His house was busted this morning.今天早上，警察搜查了他的房間。
