阿布格萊布監(jiān)獄的美軍虐囚早已不再是什么稀罕的丑聞事件。近日，美軍事法庭經(jīng)過(guò)調(diào)查取證宣布馴犬師史密斯虐囚罪名成立，判其在監(jiān)獄服刑6個(gè)月。軍事法庭指出，史密斯的罪名包括虐待囚犯、與其他馴犬師一起恐嚇囚犯、迫使囚犯自虐。

報(bào)道中的behind bars意思是“be put into prison”（被關(guān)進(jìn)牢房），這里還可以用另外一個(gè)短語(yǔ)，in prison
（被關(guān)進(jìn)監(jiān)獄）。Bar原指“關(guān)押囚犯的鐵門(mén)桿”，這里引申為“牢房”，如The windows of the prison have iron
bars.（監(jiān)獄的窗戶(hù)裝有鐵柵欄。）
另外，由于bar可以指法庭上把律師或被告席位隔開(kāi)來(lái)的圍欄，所以the prisoner at the bar意思是“在法庭中的受審者”；而the
Bar則統(tǒng)指“律師”，如She's training for the Bar.（她正在接受律師資格培訓(xùn)。）
