近日,在英語新聞報道中經(jīng)常會碰到一個新詞"spam",意指"junk
mail"(垃圾郵件)。據(jù)調(diào)查,中國是垃圾郵件的"重災區(qū)"和受害國,而普受網(wǎng)民關注和稱道的"陽光綠色網(wǎng)絡工程"已于2月21日啟動,這項工程分為治理"垃圾郵件"、治理"不良短信"、提倡"網(wǎng)絡安全"和治理"非法網(wǎng)上服務"4個部分。

報道中的spam可以解釋為:"junk e-mail; unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial
nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or
newsgroups"(收件人事先沒有提出要求或者同意接收的廣告、電子刊物等宣傳性的電子郵件)。
另外,spam可以用作動詞,指"to send unsolicited e-mail
to"(發(fā)送垃圾郵件的行為),舉個例子,"According to the new regulation, it is illegal to
spam Internet users with unsolicited
commercials"(根據(jù)新的規(guī)定,不征求互聯(lián)網(wǎng)用戶同意而發(fā)送商業(yè)廣告等垃圾郵件是非法行為)。由此,報道中的spammer則是動詞spam的另一相應名詞形式"發(fā)送電子郵件的人"。
