應(yīng)巴基斯坦政府的要求，中國政府派遣國際救援隊趕赴巴基斯坦地震區(qū)實施國際人道主義救援。這次救援行動是中國國際救援隊繼2003年赴阿爾及利亞、伊朗和2004年赴印度尼西亞實施國際救援以來，第四次實施國際救援。中國日報網(wǎng)站的報道如下：
China flew a 49-member rescue team and tons of materials to Pakistan
yesterday as a first batch of relief to its
quake-hit neighbour. The team, headed by CSB Deputy Director Zhao Heping,
also carried six search dogs, 8 tons of search equipment and nine tons of
relief materials.
文中的relief意思是"救濟、救濟品"，如：relief material(救濟物資)、relief work（救濟工作）、relief
fund（救濟資金）等。例如：The local charity organization sent relief to the flood
victims.( 當?shù)卮壬平M織將救濟物資運送給遭受水災(zāi)災(zāi)民。)
此外，Relief常用來指(稅,壓迫等的)減輕；（痛苦, 煩惱等的)解除。如：to give a patient relief from
pain（使病人減輕痛苦。）
