6月5日，參加2005年聯(lián)合國(guó)世界環(huán)境日紀(jì)念活動(dòng)的與會(huì)代表在美國(guó)舊金山共同簽署了《綠色城市宣言》和《城市環(huán)境協(xié)定》。據(jù)悉，今年世界環(huán)境日的紀(jì)念活動(dòng)首次在美國(guó)舉行，主題是“營(yíng)造綠色城市，呵護(hù)地球家園”。外電報(bào)道如下：Big city mayors from around the world signed a series of pacts
on Sunday to improve the conditions of urban centers, capping a
five-day U.N. World Environment conference in San Francisco, the city where the
United Nations was founded in 1945.
The signing ceremony on World Environment Day in the ornate rotunda at
City Hall committed more than 50 of the world's largest cities to "build
an ecologically sustainable, economically dynamic, and socially equitable
future for our urban citizens," organizers said.
The accords call for 21 actions aimed at putting cities on a path to
greener, cleaner, healthier environments for their current residents and
the estimated 1 million people moving to cities each week.

rotunda.（華盛頓的國(guó)會(huì)大廈有一個(gè)圓形大廳。）
據(jù)悉，《綠色城市宣言》呼吁世界各城市積極參與和執(zhí)行《城市環(huán)境協(xié)定》中的21項(xiàng)行動(dòng)計(jì)劃，通過(guò)立法程序?qū)h(huán)境問(wèn)題納入重要的發(fā)展日程，從而有效控制污染，加強(qiáng)城市綠化。
