losing ownership to an American billionaire, Malcolm Glazer.
Mr. Glazer - owner of the 2003 Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- last week went public with a $1.5 billion buyout, and mopped up the last
few shares needed to control the club on Monday.
Mop up表示“作掃尾工作，擦去，揩干，吃光，肅清殘敵”，mop有“用拖把擦洗”之意，例如：mop one's
brow（擦去額上的汗水）；mop the
floor（拖地板）。此外mopper-up意為“掃蕩者”，而mop-haired則表示“頭發(fā)亂蓬蓬的”。
據(jù)悉，被稱為“球盲大亨”的格雷澤從此可以根據(jù)自己的喜好制定俱樂部的任何計(jì)劃，不需經(jīng)過其他股東批準(zhǔn)。憤怒的曼聯(lián)球迷聲稱要和格雷澤對(duì)抗到底，目前一些曼聯(lián)球迷正以高于格雷澤報(bào)的價(jià)格收購曼聯(lián)股票，以阻止后者實(shí)現(xiàn)他的第三個(gè)戰(zhàn)略目標(biāo)——將自己持有的曼聯(lián)股票比例提高到90％以上，從而通過法律強(qiáng)迫其他股民向他出售股票。
