中美兩國(guó)簽署《旅游合作諒解備忘錄》的消息一經(jīng)傳出后，引起了旅游界的廣泛關(guān)注，因?yàn)橐馕吨钔聿怀^明年年底，美國(guó)將成為中國(guó)公民自費(fèi)旅游的“樂土”。Shanghai
Daily報(bào)道如下：The United States may open to Chinese group tours next year, but
travelers will have to put down a substantial deposit before booking a
trip to America.
Group tourists will be required to pay travel agencies a deposit of
about 100,000 yuan (US$12,000) before their trips, which is refundable
after they return.
Deposit表示“保證金，訂金”，例如：funds on deposit with a broker（抵押在經(jīng)紀(jì)人處的資金）；He left
a $100 deposit toward the purchase of a stereo
system.（他為買一套立體聲系統(tǒng)，留下了100美元的訂金。）
據(jù)估計(jì)，將來赴美旅游者必須繳納幾萬元的保證金方可成行，因?yàn)橛慰鸵坏舨粴w，旅行社將承擔(dān)巨大風(fēng)險(xiǎn)。由于目前美國(guó)并未成為中國(guó)公民自費(fèi)旅游目的地國(guó)，所以國(guó)內(nèi)旅行社都是以商務(wù)團(tuán)在經(jīng)營(yíng)美洲旅游線路，最常規(guī)的東西連線加夏威夷14天的報(bào)價(jià)在2.8萬至3萬元之間。
